Laura Rad, Coochie, and Gay Rick prepare you for your next (or first) doctor's appointment. Regardless of why you are going to the doctor to discuss your sexual health, the gang gives tips and prep work to take with you. Coochie tells Rick that women aren't having their boobs crushed anymore. Laura Rad shares some warning signs of when it may be time to change doctors. The gang wraps it up by sharing ideas for how to talk to your doctor. Get ready to turn your head and cough... in delight!

Abortion and Miscarriage: Articles from Maggie

Hey SiF folks,

You've heard Maggie Koerth-Baker on our Science Corner episodes as our fun and funny guest expert on the science of sex.  You might have checked out her work on where she is the science editor or read her book, Before the Lights Go Out: Conquering the Energy Crisis Before it Conquers Us.  Lately she has been writing about a more personal subject; her struggles getting pregnant as well as her decisions around abortion and miscarriage when she recently had a non-viable pregnancy.

I wanted to share her articles on the SiF blog for a few reasons.  First of all, I know our listeners love Maggie as a guest on the show and care what is going on with her.  Secondly, there is too much silence around these subjects: infertility, abortion, miscarriage, America's laws and the deep divide around abortion legislation.  People who face these struggles and decisions often make them in silence.  We rarely hear personal stories from people about what their experience was like and how they made their decisions.  We almost never hear about what decisions are simply not available to what people based on issues of privilege.  Maggie has written two important and personal articles on these topics.  She is putting these out there at a time when the decisions are still new and emotionally raw.  This is a brave act and her articles are beautiful.  You should read them.  Here is the first and the second.

Of course, the SiF Crew is sending much love to Maggie and her husband.  I know this is a topic that generates intense emotions for lots of people.  Feel free to comment below but please keep your comments respectful or I will take them down.

All Best,
Laura Rad

This one's for the straight men

Seems like I hear from our straight male listeners a lot!  Most often I hear frustrations about the lack of sex positive, dare I say deep thinking material available regarding straight male sexuality.  So when I came across this article discussing society's (in this case England's) fear of male sexuality I wanted to share it with you all.  Opinions?  Share below!

How about that awesome image that is apparently someone named Ryu from the Street Fighter video game? I'm not even going to pretend to be cool enough to have known that on my own.  It was credited in the other article I wanted to share with you.  That one is about the objectification of men in video games from a very cool looking blog called Border House.  Their about section says "The Border House is a blog for gamers...who are feminist, queer, disabled, people of color, transgender, poor, gay, lesbian, and others who belong to marginalized groups, as well as allies."  How very cool.  Check them out here.

“Femme means my feminism and my femininity walk hand in hand”

No, I am not quoting a magical hybrid of Jessica Rabbit and Angelina Jolie.  I'm quoting this awesome article.  Check it out.

SiF #339 - Sex and Technology

It’s hard to imagine sex in today’s modern world without thinking about technology! People are reading about sex, watching sex, finding sex, learning about sex, and even getting off with various pieces of technology. Manufacturers continue to come up with great new products to get us off! Tonight, the Sex is Fun crew is joined by R.C. Kuhn, one of the makers of the latest mobile device app, Dr. Sexy Time as they talk about technology, porn, mobile devices and how science is rearing its head into the world of sex.
